Soulamtes-Week Three

Wow. That's really all I have to say about that reading. As I was reading it my jaw was literally dropping. The way Socrates mind works is just absolutely amazing. His mind is like a puzzle. There's so many pieces to the puzzle that make him completely unique. To think that we were originally attached to someone, creating the want and need for someone else love. The way he explains it, it's almost like the expression "My other half." Socrates says that we are literally looking for our "other half," the one the we were originally connected to. While it's extremely weird, it's also kind of romantic in a way. I see it as romantic because there's one person that you're supposed to be with, the one that you were destined to be with in the first place. And only one person that can satisfy that feeling of love.

  1. I think that the concept of soul mates it interesting. For the most part it makes snse according to their religion, but some other stuff throughout the text had me dazzled that any human could use this as an explanation. The thing that got me really confused and began my questioning of Socrates' sanity was when he started talking about the genitals being moved around on the mortals so they could reproduce, and instead of males planting their seed in the ground, they can now plant it in their soul mates and produce offspring. the second half o that idea makes sense but i was lost during the first part. But all in all i thought it was an interesting concept and a decent way of explaining their unexplainable.
