Education

Book VII by Plato was about education. While reading it, it was very hard to understand and it was boring. I was lost while reading it until the end when everything was brought together and he sums it all up. Plato thinks that everyone should have an education to better themselves. He talks about, opening ones mind to knowledge is like ones eyes adjusting to the light from the darkness to the light. He thinks no one should ever turn back to the darkness be it will weaken the societies education values. Overall it was interesting to read because they cared so much about everyone being educated in their society and didn’t want to leave anyone be hide.

  1. I think that the emphasis on education is something that still exists today, which is positive.

  2. I agree with your thought on how Plato has an open mind on education is a good thing. Today some people don't have the proper education and it is important to be knowledgable and want to understand things in the world.

  3. I also found it difficult to read, however, it eventually made sense towards the end. I did not find it very boring as far as assigned readings go, but I do agree it with you; it was interesting to say the least. I agreed with nearly all Plato's points and arguments.
