Wealth of Nations
I am a little confused by the reading. I am pretty sure it was about Smith's belief that the nation could basically run itself but is in danger of lobbyists. Which as far as I know about politics, is relevant today. Really wealthy organizations ,like the RNA, hire people to pay politicians to create bills and laws in favor of their company. This seems to happen often, but I don't think it's legal in any sense. I wish I knew more about this because I would have more of an opinion.

I agree with you that the reading was confusing. One of the main things that I grasped from the read and understood is competition between something will determine price for something. It will either rise or fall based on how much of a product is wanted. I think the class discussion with help clarify this reading.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one Erin. I'm not a business major by no means, and I'm just not that educated in all the things that go with business. But some of the fundamentals in Smith's writings I could relate to, like the "supply and demand" we're taught through high school economics. Maybe I learned a little something from that class.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said, specifically about lobbying in our government. It seems to be such a wide spread problem in our government today.
