The Apology

The Apology was definitely a hard read in my opinion, but I think it also had a great message! Socrates was very courages to stand up for himself against so many people that believed what he was doing was wrong.  In a way I think that while he was defending himself he was also provoking his accusers by ridiculing their beliefs. Socrates thought he was a wise man because a prophecy that the oracle of delphi told his friend, which in turn I think made him a smart mouth and he question everything that educators thought and believed it was wrong to charge people to get educated. I think that Socrates was a courages man to stand up for him self against so many accusers.

  2. I agree with you in that Socrates was defending himself as well as provoking his accusers. He told them that he shouldnt be accused guilty, and that he should be given food in the Prytaneum. They obviously didnt think to highly of his comments after giving him the death sentence.

  3. I also agree, it was wordy and hard to understand but i like how he didnt regret the way he came stated his case, he'd rather die than let then give them answers that they wanted to hear.

  4. I too think that Socrates was a very courageous man, but I do think that in the end his "smart mouth" was what had him sentenced to his death. Had he still spoken the truth and not been so arrogant. He may have suffered lesser charges and lived longer to spread more knowledge to the youth.
