Soul Mates- Week Three
Reading the passage for Soul Mates, I had speculations that it would be very similar to the apology from week two but it turned out to be completely different. I disliked reading the apology for its redundancy of socrates just arguing about how wise he is just kinda seemed a little pointless to me. But after reading the Symposium (189a-193e) I enjoyed socrates' way of thinking. The belief that you are attached to someone and have somewhat of checks and balances system with your soulmate was very interesting. Creating a sense that you have another part of you in the world that your almost destined to be with is remarkable in my mind. Socrates' description of being cut in half and never really being able to coexist with out the other was probably my favorite part of the whole passage of reading.
