Phaedo

I think Phaedo was very interesting. I thought Socrates outtake on death was really cool. He didn't have a problem with dying because he knew he was standing for what he believed in and that's all that mattered. His view of the afterlife was interesting too. He believed that even once you die, your soul doesn't, your soul is immortal. When I first read it I thought that was completely foolish until I read his four arguments of our souls' immortality. My favorite argument Socrates made was the Affinity Argument. In the Affinity Argument, Socrates talks about how he believes our souls are of the present and future and how are bodies are of the past and when our bodies began to rot, our souls will continue to live. I still believe that when we die and go to Heaven or Hell, our souls come along with us but I understand what Socrates was saying and it gave me a different look of things.

  1. I agree that Socrates thoughts on the after life were interesting. I also understood the story more the further i got into it. The story really got me thinking about the after life.

  2. I also thought Phaedo was very interesting. I always wonder what happens when we die because it is truly unknown and this gave me another perspective. I think its funny how Socrates is completly okay with dying and phaedo is so concerned about it. He is more worried than Socrates. Socrates says he is okay with dying because the soul gains ultimate knowledge, which is very true.
