Education
To start off, this read was very difficult to understand. I had to re-read it few times to grasp the concept. But overall I thought the message was good. I liked that Plato thought that everyone deserved and education and how education better themselves. I also liked how the society valued education, which is something I think is lagging in today's time. While reading this text, I could some what relate to now because I think some Americans, especially people my age take education for granted, where as Plato was trying to teach people that value and importance of education.

I agree with you! People today need to take education seriously like they did. I agree with Plato everything does deserve an education to better themselves. Overall it was reat message he was trying to teach the society. ( I agree it was difficult to understand!!)
ReplyDeleteI also thought it was somewhat difficult to read. The way it was worded made the points Plato was making seem confusing. Somehow the ending cleared the confusion and i understood it. I also liked how he thought everyone deserved an education. I found myself in agreement with Plato in many aspects.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happens to me whether its reading plato, or socrates. I find myself having to re-read the reading at least two times in order to grasp the concept behind it. I agree with you as well that in this day in age especially in our age range we take education for granted and at the time of the greeks education was viewed more of a privilege and not everyone had the opportunity to receive an education.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you it was difficult to read. I also agree that we do take education for granted now a days and its important for us to get one so we can better ourselves. I liked that Socrates believed that getting an education can actually make us better human beings.
ReplyDeleteExcellent points!
