apology
I found the Apology a bit long and wordy. However as I continued to read grew on me. One thing I liked about the Apology was that he is extremely confident in himself, and you can tell that he is a smart ass against Meletus and the jury becuase he knows he did nothing wrong. I like how he is passionate for what he does, and he explains that they can kill him but when he goes to the after life he will still be doing the same thing as he is doing on earth. Overall to me it wasnt all that bad besides the length of it. The main thing I didnt like was the ending decision to put him to death.

I agree with you on the length of the apology. I felt it just kept going around and around in a big circle basically just to get to the sentencing. I do also agree with you about admirable his passion and confidence really stand outs.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Socrates did show passion for what he believed in and wasn't going to sway his ways because all this people were accusing him, but I think that him being too confident is what at the end came back to haunt him and thats why he was sentenced to death.
ReplyDeleteI do love the bit about practicing his method in the afterlife, too. It really is a slap in the face to the establishment.
