Apology

Having taken a philosophy course before, Plato’s Apology is not foreign to me. I always find his writings and his way of thinking to be very interesting. What surprises me is how, in the beginning, Socrates states that he isn’t a very good speaker. He is either very humble, or blind. Using the support from the youth, he tried to show the older people a new way to view things which is why I think he framed answers in the form of a question. I did find the reading to be, yet again, a little confusing and hard to follow. There were a lot of characters to keep up with. However it was clear that he stood for what he believed in and never backed down.

  1. After i got done reading the whole thing, I was surprised too that he said he was not a good speaker. I wonder if he did that to surprise us? Or maybe he did that just to make himself look better.

    1. Probably both... Or Plato is just messing with all of us.

  2. Glad you were able to find new things in something you had already read. I hope you were able to compare what you got now to what you'd understood before.
