Apology

I thought the most interesting part of this dialogue was Socrates first defense; that these men  responsible for upholding justice were biased as a result of their upbringing. He makes the point that the opinions they hold are the result of their elders influence on them when they were younger and susceptible. I understand his point in this context, but it makes me question how many of my opinions are truly my own and how many I only THINK are my own. Taken a step further, I think this same idea can be used to make the case that different types of government and religion have evolved from a large game of telephone spanning hundreds of   generations, though with some regards to common sense and adjustments needed as a result of changing times.

  1. I definitely think it's a good idea to examine one's beliefs and find out if they're something you truly believe, or if they're simply something you believe because you've been told to. Great point, Cadie.
