Apology: Aly Taylor

Socrates was a very out spoken man for his time, an insightful one as well. He did not conform to the society in front of him, but instead challenged their morals, their beliefs, and their reasoning. He did not see things in the way other people and he should not be sorry for that! This entire article explained the reasons behind what made Socrates such a huge impact in history and why he is still talked about today.

Socrates was a truthful man and a little blunt in my opinion, but he did not sugarcoat anything to anyone. He spoke his mind and all he thought things were or should be. He created challenged the human brain, he challenged the Athens to think outside their confined box and discover what else was out there. However, through this honesty and this challenge is what led to his downfall and death. In my opinion, Socrates was too busy trying to encourage people to explore new thoughts and new ideas, which he never once considered the consequences he would receive from saying some of the things that he did. He stood up for what he believed in and marched to the beat of his own drum, but he was the right man in the wrong time period. However, he did make an everlasting impersion in history, and that is something not everyone can say.

  1. I agree, Socrates really was kind of a fish out of water. I really don't think the men of Athens knew what to do with him!
